Innovation Norway in San Francisco currently engages in the following main areas: information technology, innovation and entrepreneurship, and energy.

Information technology is currently the main focus area for the office, although the other two areas are expanding in scale and emphasis. We have identified additional new areas that are important for Norwegian business growth and we are developing these together with Norwegian partners.
Organization
The office is staffed by Special Advisors assigned to specific focal areas on behalf of business and government in Norway. These advisors serve two roles, as managers of business development projects on behalf of individual firms and organizations contracting separately with the office, and as directors of joint programs for multiple businesses and organizations.

Multi-client programs
The joint, multi-client programs provide participants with access to topical newsletters on market and technology developments. Members also participate in seminars, in member meetings and in annual study tours. In addition, they gain the option to work with the office on their own projects. Multi-client programs bring together many firms around shared topics, providing them with access to a larger network and opportunities to learn from one another.
Research and Educational Network (REN) provides access to expertise, experiences and networks in USA regarding approaches to network-based education and training, using media like the Internet. Furthermore, it establishes contacts between Norwegian research and educational organizations.
